House of Sacred CirclesNorth Shore, Oahu, Hawaii The Rosecrusians referred to architecture as frozen music. The Circle is one of the most common and universal signs, found in all cultures. It is the symbol of the sun in its limitless or boundless aspect. It has no beginning or end, and no divisions, making it the perfect symbol of completeness, eternity, and the soul... The Secret Language of Symbols- A Guide to The Structure of Spiritual Emblems Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s 1938 circle based design for Ralph Jester, the House of Sacred Circles is an adaptation of circles on a rectangular plane. Each circle functions as a pocket of activity interconnected with spacious expanses on an elevated single level. The house was built in 1990 constructed by the owners and continues to be a work in progress with renovation and design changes underway in Spring 2007. The house sits on 1 and 1/2 acres of land zoned for agriculture. Two old mango trees, a bumpy lemon tree and a pocket of wilderness have been preserved on the property where new plantings focus on native Hawaiian species, edibles and tropical flowers. Birds love the magnificent 50 feet high banyan trees that host an orchid grotto and shade visitors on entry to the House of Sacred Circles.
